Cynthia Redfern

Cynthia RedfernI found my enthusiasm for Acupuncture from my own life experience. When I was 20, I was hit by a car while walking. I suffered multiple broken bones, internal severance of both knees, and a coma followed by amnesia and left side paralysis. 3 months in the hospital got me mobile, but after 6 years my knees were full of bone chips and arthritis. The opportunity for double knee replacement was prescribed. I was in a lot of pain, my left side was “gimpy”, and I had numbness below my knees.

A friend encouraged me to try Acupuncture. I was mortally afraid of needles, but I had tried everything else. I found it much more pleasant and interesting than I imagined.

I wound up having 2 treatments a week for 12 weeks. Since then I have never looked back; my knees do not hurt, pop or grind, nerve function is restored and subsequent x-rays show remarkable recovery. I love this medicine!

In 2003, I completed 4 years of graduate training at the Santa Barbara College of Oriental Medicine. I have practiced in California, Colorado, and New Zealand where I have a beau and visit on working holidays. I now live in Santa Ynez at RedFern Farm where I perform “acupuncture with a Farm feel” on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays are available for emergencies.
